Morgan Rogers found the net for Chelsea, but his performance still came under scrutiny after the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City.
The England international made an early impact on the scoresheet, yet former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole felt Rogers was too careless with possession during the Premier League encounter.
Rogers put Chelsea ahead inside seven minutes, but Hull responded with two goals from Mohamed Belloumi before João Pedro restored parity for the visitors in the second half.

Despite Rogers' goal, Cole argued that the forward was not at his best when Chelsea had possession. Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, the former striker said Rogers repeatedly gave the ball away.
“He had already scored his goal. I see him dribbling into no man’s land.”
Cole added: “He lost the ball so many times. I was like, ‘Morgan, this is not like you’. What is going on?”
The criticism comes during an otherwise encouraging start to Rogers' Chelsea campaign. He has already contributed goals or assists regularly in the opening weeks of the Premier League season, making his attacking influence an important part of Chelsea's early campaign.

For Rogers, the message from Cole is less about his ability to score and more about what he does after making an impact. Chelsea will now look for a more complete performance when they return to Premier League action.
A goal can change the scoreline — but consistency with the ball can change a player's entire performance.
