Barcelona have entered a new leadership era, with Hansi Flick naming three players to temporarily lead the team as the club prepares to settle on its permanent captains.
The decision comes as Barcelona deal with major changes in their squad leadership.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has named Raphinha, Eric García and Pedri as the club’s temporary captains ahead of Wednesday’s Gamper Trophy clash with Al Ahly.
Flick said the appointments will remain in place until the squad is finalized and the players hold a vote to determine the permanent captaincy group.
Explaining his decision, Flick said: “Until it is done, we will do the vote. Until this happens, Rapha is the captain with Eric and Pedri.”
Raphinha is therefore set to wear the armband while Eric García and Pedri form part of the interim leadership group.
Barcelona will hold a vote once the squad situation is settled. The club's captaincy structure has been reshaped following the departures of Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo.
For now, Flick has made his choice clear: Raphinha, Eric García and Pedri will lead Barcelona temporarily.
Barcelona fans now have three new names to watch closely as the club begins a new chapter.
