The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned corps members and the public to disregard a viral message claiming that a special redeployment window has been opened. The scheme says the notice is fraudulent and urged Nigerians to rely only on its official communication channels.

The NYSC has issued a public disclaimer after a fake redeployment notice began circulating online, falsely claiming that corps members could apply for relocation due to concerns about national security, health, and the state of the nation.

The misleading notice, titled "URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT," was addressed to parents and guardians and encouraged corps members with what it described as "genuine grounds" to submit redeployment requests. It also listed phone numbers for assistance and urged applicants to act quickly.

Reacting on Friday, the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters used its verified X (formerly Twitter) account, @officialnyscng, to label the notice as fake. The agency shared the circulating message with a bold "FAKE NEWS" watermark, warning Nigerians not to be deceived.

The NYSC stated that the redeployment notice currently circulating online did not originate from the scheme and should be ignored.

The agency reiterated that all matters relating to deployment and redeployment are handled strictly through its official portal and authorised NYSC offices. It also stressed that it does not appoint agents or process redeployment requests through unofficial phone numbers.

Officials advised corps members and their families to verify any information concerning the scheme through the NYSC's official website and verified social media platforms before taking action or making payments.
