Barcelona remain perfect in La Liga after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Levante, with Lamine Yamal scoring twice in another standout performance.

The champions looked firmly in control after going three goals ahead, but two late Levante goals suddenly turned a comfortable afternoon into a tense finish before Karim Adeyemi settled the game in stoppage time.

Barcelona now have five wins from five league matches and remain three points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the table.

The warning for Hansi Flick is clear, though: Barcelona's attacking firepower continues to impress, but their defence allowed Levante back into a match that appeared to be finished.

Xavi Espart opened the scoring in the fifth minute with his first Barcelona goal before Yamal doubled the advantage in the 19th minute after Raphinha created the opportunity.

Yamal then won and converted a penalty shortly after half-time to make it 3-0.

That appeared to have ended the contest, but Levante refused to disappear.

Iván Romero pulled one back in the 79th minute after Barcelona were caught out by a loose pass, before Roger Brugué scored eight minutes later to reduce the deficit to just one goal.

For several minutes, Barcelona's perfect record looked under serious pressure.

Adeyemi finally ended the drama in the third minute of stoppage time, racing through the Levante defence before calmly finishing to restore Barcelona's two-goal advantage.

Yamal's performance was another major talking point. The teenager scored from open play and from the penalty spot, continuing his remarkable scoring run and giving Barcelona another decisive attacking outlet.

But the match also showed why Flick will not want his players switching off after building a lead.

Barcelona had enough quality to survive the comeback, yet conceding twice in the closing stages gave Levante a chance that should never have existed from a 3-0 position.

For now, the result is what matters most: five games, five wins and three points separating Barcelona from Real Madrid.

But if Barcelona's title ambitions are to withstand stronger opponents later in the season, Flick will need the same consistency at the back that his team is already showing in attack.

Barcelona keep winning. Yamal keeps scoring. But Levante showed that the champions still have work to do.
